1. Powder, liquid, film, and bulk samples are all acceptable. Powder samples should be 10mg, bulk samples should have a diameter of ≤1cm and thickness of <1cm, and the sample mass should not exceed 200g. Samples with a strong odor or that are volatile should be discussed with the project manager in advance to determine if they can be tested, as they may sublimate during the process and block the optical path, damaging the instrument.
2. Samples such as concrete, coral sand, aerogel, hydrogel, and wood that require a very long vacuum time should be as small as possible, with a diameter of ≤5mm and thickness of ≤5mm.
3. Samples that need to be fractured should be ≥2*2cm in size and <0.5cm in thickness. Thicker samples are recommended to be prepared larger in size. If special sample preparation is needed, such as grinding or etching, please communicate with us before placing an order.
4. For samples such as minerals and resin-embedded specimens that require backscattered mode imaging to view different phase distributions, please explain in advance. We can arrange the laboratory accordingly. Note that some laboratories are not equipped with backscatter detectors, and the resolution of backscatter is not as high as that of conventional secondary electron detectors.
5. Samples with poor conductivity or strong magnetism are recommended to be gold-coated. If the sample results are poor because you requested no gold coating, it may be difficult for the technician to arrange a retest. The laboratory's common target materials are pure gold (Au), pure platinum (Pt), and gold-palladium alloy (Au/Pd). When energy spectrum analysis is needed, the elements to be tested should not overlap with the target material. If you have special requirements for the target material, please contact us.
6. Please carefully check your samples. If you misrepresent a weakly magnetic sample as non-magnetic or a strongly magnetic sample as weakly/non-magnetic, we may not be able to arrange your experiment and will not be responsible for the time and sample loss caused. Moreover, if instrument damage is caused by concealing sample information, you may be required to bear the full compensation responsibility.
7. If bulk sample testing requires imaging of both the surface and cross-section, they need to be booked as separate groups and will be charged as two samples. Please clearly mark the test surfaces.
8. Generally, low voltage will be chosen for imaging during testing. If there are special requirements for the working voltage, please note them in advance.
9. The default image resolution is 1024*768. Resolution affects the scanning time. If there are other resolution requirements, please specify them, and the laboratory will adjust the charges according to the specific requirements.
